Mrs. Emma J. Berry, 82, widow of the late M.F. Berry, died at her home,
six miles north of Columbia on the Browns Station Road, yesterday
afternoon at 1:30 o'clock following a paralytic stroke.
She was a
lifelong church member, joining at the age of 12. Mrs. Berry, the
former Miss Emma Allison, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. B.
Allison of Sturgeon, was well known here where she spent her early life.
She attended the local high school and had frequently visited with
relatives and friends here since her marriage.
Survivors include a
daughter, Mrs. T.J. Holloway of the home, one granddaughter, one
grandson, three great grandchildren, a brother the Rev. W.M. Allison of
Carthage, and one sister, Mrs. Fred L. Hayth of Dallas, Texas.
Funeral
services will be held at the Willet Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 2
o'clock by the Rev. Gene W. Wetherell followed by burial in the Red Top
cemetery. The body will remain at Willett's until time for the
services.
Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Owings and Mrs. J. W. Berry attended
burial rites Sunday afternoon at Red Top church for the latter's
sister-in-law, Mrs. Emma Berry, who died Friday afternoon at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. T. J. Holloway near Browns Station.
