Given that Lucinda and David are recorded as living with Joseph and Mary for the 1860 census, and Lucinda for the 1870 census, and that I can't find any record of Alexander Haley after 1830, I believe Lucinda was a widow by 1840 and that she and her son Ezekiel are the additional 2 people in Joseph's household.
