Warwick Castle
Ancestral home of Henry de Newburgh, Roger de Newburgh, Waleran de Newburgh, and William de Beauchamp, 1st, 2nd, 4th and 9th Earls of Warwick, respectively, and their families. It was built of wood during the de Newburghs' time. Stone began replacing wood in 1260, a few years before William de Beauchamp gained his title, beginning 148 year dynasty that brought Warwick Castle to the height of its fortunes.
